Applications can be submitted throughout the year. Parents are recommended to apply as soon as they have made a decision about schooling for their child.

Self-funding families can apply for financial assistance which varies according to the number of children in a family.
We base our initial assessment on academic reports and the confidential form completed by the applicant’s current or last school.
Lunch is optional and there is a choice between vegetarian and non-vegetarian each day. We do not serve pork and we do try to cater for most dietary restrictions. Senior School students have access to a microwave to heat up their own food.
We do not have a school uniform but all students are expected to adhere to the dress code. Junior School students are required to wear a school sports uniform available from the school office.

The school is operated by the ISU Association whose members are the parents and teachers. ISU is not-for-profit school all funds are used for the annual operation of the school and any excess income is used for campus development.
Seven of the 10 Board members are elected by the Association members to stand for a 2-year term. Two Board members are appointed by the Board and the other by the US Ambassador.
Yes, we support all students that are enrolled at the school, providing additional English classes and targeted support, with experienced staff who are able to respond to individual needs.
The IB programmes are designed around skills and inquiry which allows students to access the curriculum. The programmes build on a student's current knowledge.
The campus is walled and has guards at every gate. The students, staff, carers and parents are issued with an ID to allow easy but secure entry and vehicles are issued with a security sticker.
Students are placed according to their age and educational background. We have a grade placement guide.
Yes, whenever children are in school, there are two nurses on duty who can deal with minor issues and will call the parents if a doctor's attention is needed.
All the drivers are trained in defensive driving techniques, all buses are air-conditioned, equipped with three-point seat belts with booster seats for smaller children, and webcams are fitted that look both forwards and backwards. Every bus has an adult monitor as well as a driver.
Yes, the campus, including the swimming pool, football pitches, and Leopard's exercise trail, is available to the ISU community when it is not in use by the school.
The school is currently working on a Board-driven greening initiative. This includes ensuring that environmental issues are part of the curriculum, that new buildings incorporate energy-saving designs and equipment, and that rainwater is saved and reused.
The campus is like a botanical garden and there is a continuous programme of maintenance and replanting.
Teachers are required to undertake professional development and attend courses and workshops, either in person or online.
Yes, the Library is stocked with over 25,000 books, journals and magazines. The Library also has access to databanks and online publications.
The ISU community, including parents, are welcome to enjoy the Library and borrow books. There is an extensive mother-tongue section as well as a Ugandan publication section in the Library.
There is an extensive after school activity (ASA) programme which all children from Kinder to Grade 12 are welcome to attend.
The bus service is available from the main residential areas in Kampala including Ntinda, Munyonyo, Makindye, Lubowa and Entebbe.
