A strong school-home partnership is a vital part of learning and student growth at ISU.
Parent Forums are opportunities for parents and teachers to learn from experts from within and outside the ISU community on topics related to parenting, schooling and learning. The format of the forum involves a presentation or sharing of ideas followed by an opportunity to discuss and consider the implications of the learning. The forums are offered in a hybrid format where possible, so families can attend either via video conferencing or in-person. Some examples include: The Parenting Series, Digital Lives Series and the Foundations of Learning.
Parent Workshops are designed to provide parents with specific information and guidance on key educational processes and tools that we encourage parents to use with their children. The workshops are generally informational with opportunities to ask clarifying questions or to try out an activity. Some examples include: Emergent Reading Workshops, College and University Counselling, The Role of ManageBac and Introduction to the IB Programmes.
The Lecture Series is an ongoing platform that is used to share some of the broader issues and concepts related to the future of schools and learning. Lectures are offered online and in-person where possible. Past lectures have included: The Future of Education, Sustainable Schools and Parenting in a Digital Age.

Learning can include meeting together with your child’s teacher, leadership team member, or our school counselling team, it can be attending a learning event, or accessing resources online that we send out regularly.
Parent Forum’s take place in both Junior School and Senior School, a calendar of dates is provided to parents in advance and topics communicated in advance.
We are also finding ways to connect virtually so that working families can also attend and access the resources and learning provided.
