Today’s webinar was provided by Allison Ochs from Edit Change Management. 

This 90 minute session focused on the impact of digital devices, social media and screens on our wellbeing and the wellbeing of our families.  Allison walked us through data that she had collected from the school community as well as current research trends to explore how we might find greater balance in our lives.  Some key aspects of the session included the importance of developing a digital media agreement as a family.  These agreements help families agree on norms of use such as charging devices downstairs, no devices in bedrooms, no devices at mealtimes and agreements on types and length of screentime.  Allison also explored research from The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt, who has written extensively on the impact of digital media on children and young people with serious adverse effects on wellbeing, mental health and socialization.  We are not able to record these webinars, however, Allison has made available the following:
